Why we’re building this?
It started with a feeling that something real was missing from modern travel. So we set out to build an alternative — slower, smaller, and closer to the heart.
Alpnest was born from a simple desire: to discover the soul of Swiss hospitality. As an expat living in Switzerland, I often searched for accommodations with genuine character, places that truly reflected the local spirit.
Tired of boring, soulless hotels, I decided to uncover the hidden gems and authentic stays that make Switzerland so special. Alpnest is the result of that journey – a curated collection of unique homes and experiences, handpicked for those seeking a deeper connection with this breathtaking country.
The Why
We believe travel can be meaningful, and that places can have soul.
The How
Curation over algorithms. Stillness over speed. The luxury of local life.
The people behind the places
Not investors. Not developers.
But caretakers. Gardeners. Bakers. Grandchildren who stayed.
Stories of the walls
At Alpnest, we believe that true hospitality is an extension of someone’s life — not their business plan. That’s why we seek places where the host still gathers herbs, still bakes bread, still opens the shutters each morning with care.
We don’t look for perfection.
We look for presence.
This is about more than design. It’s about homes that breathe with the seasons, and people who remember the stories of the walls.
What do we believe in?
We’re more than just a booking platform. We’re a quiet movement of people who believe that travel can have meaning, and that places can have soul.
-
We believe in real places and real people: wooden cabins that smell like forests, handmade curtains, and hosts who know every mountain by name. What we offer isn’t copy-paste, it’s personal.
-
Nature sets the pace – and we follow. that’s why we support places that care for the environment: using solar energy, rainwater, recycling, and low-impact design. We and our hosts think long-term, because we don’t have a planet B.
-
We choose local. Cheese from the neighbour, pottery from the next village, stories passed down over coffee. Travel should leave something good behind – not just take.
-
A trip is more than where you sleep. It’s the fire under the stars, the cold dip in the lake, the chat with someone who grew up here. We’re not chasing stars or ratings. We’re here for real moments.
-
We believe travel can be kind. That means respecting places, people and their ways of life. We don’t preach – but we do invite you to go slower, lighter, and with care.
